A Dean for Environmental and Institutional Sustainability was hired by the President and faculty and staff educators were selected by the Dean based on interest.

A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive (1st program):
Formal training includes new employee orientation, faculty orientation, in-service training, and sustainability conferences (e.g. South Metropolitan Higher Education, SMHEC, Annual Sustainability Conference). Department presentations, peer-to-peer collaborations, and direct classroom assistance are offered. There is also a faculty sustainability professional development option which will be discussed elsewhere.

The Dean position is salaried and faculty and other staff have travel reimbursement and conference and professional development funds available. There is also an Annual Awards for Excellence mini-grant program that offers $1,000 awards to encourage the development of new ideas and/or innovations that support student success. These funds are also available to the employee educators.
