A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:
Freshmen students for the Fall of 2011 spent Saturday morning of Orientation Weekend learning about recent campus sustainability efforts (including STARS). They also learned about the importance of recycling and how single stream recycling works. They then spent time creating signs to post in recycling areas to guide students in proper recycling procedure and placed new recycling receptacles around campus.
