Sustainability Initiatives Fund
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
In 2010, as a result of students gathering petition signatures and presenting their request to the Board of Trustees, the Sustainability Initiatives Fund (SIF) was established. The SIF receives a $1 fee per registered credit hour from every JCCC student. It is administered and allocated by the JCCC students who hold seats on the Student Sustainability Committee (and it's staff/faculty advisors). The SIF generates approximately $350,000 per academic year to be used for campus and student sustainability projects and programs. See the link below for a complete list of items that have been funded. The SIF has helped JCCC reduce utility costs, provide invaluable learning experiences for students, and is largely responsible for many of the sustainability projects JCCC has been able to accomplish.
A brief description of any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation (if not reported above):
Please see http://www.jccc.edu/sustainability/students/sustainability-committee/funded-projects/index.html for a list of specific outcomes the SIF has produced.
