Environmental Interest Group consists of students who promote environmental justice through education, activities, and advocacy. Examples of significant programming include, Arbor Day, Earth Week, and Fall Sustainability programming initiatives.

Student Government Body Sustainability Committee educates and promotes sustainability on campus.

The JCU Green Team, which focuses on promoting/supporting recycling and other sustainable programs on campus.

JCU Garden Club promotes educational and activity based events around sustainable gardening and practices.

Center for Service learning and Social Action partners with Urban Farming as well as Harvesting for Hunger, where students work with refugees and other displaced peoples to support Community Greenhouse Partners urban farm.

The annual Fair Trade Expo is every spring semester. The Ohio Fair Trade Expo will feature speakers and workshops for members of faith communities, high school and college students, and fair trade advocates discussing the Fair Trade movement in Ohio. As part of the Expo, more than twenty vendors from across the state will also participate in a Fair Trade Market, that includes clothing, food, and drink products. The Expo is intended to be an educational event that will empower consumers to become advocates for fair trade by raising regional awareness of the concept as an important and viable business model.

The campus hosts 10 immersion trips a year, both domestically and locally. On these trips we host a program to collect all waste and bring it back home with us in reusable containers. All students attending are issue reusable dinner ware and drinking containers.

Campus ministries also sponsors sustainability retreats outdoors following these same practices.

The internships for both the Fair Trade and Sustainability programs are paid positions on campus.

The Graduation pledge of Loyalty and Service. At the end of every graduation ceremony, Students recite this pledge as provided in the programs in which they dedicate themselves to a life of service and social justice. In recent years this pledge includes the Jesuit commitment to Caring for our Common Home, one of the four universal apostolic preferences of the Jesuit religious order.
