A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution:
Immersion Program: 7-10 day experiences both domestically and abroad. Specifically North Carolin and Appalachia pertain to environmental justice issues. NC relates to fast fashion and a zero waste economic cycle of production. Appalachia is about coal mining, alternative sources of energy and living simply. Optional 1 credit classes are available. Tangible outcome: students do an advocacy project related to the main issues of environmental injustice they experienced. Faculty/staff mentors present. Our community partner for NC is Ethix Merch. Our community partner for Appalchia is the Catholic Worker in Spencer, WV. We have clear learning outcomes as it relates to the Immersion, which we measure regularly.

Boler in Belize: 8-day sutainable enterprise immersion experience in Belize, Central America; open university-wide, part of MK362/IBLC308 Subsistence Marketplaces and Social Innovation; Participants meet with varied size businesses from microentrepreneurs to international manufacturers; work with refugee resettlement community; course projects developed, sustainble marketing services implemented post-immersion; year-over-year building of relationships and accompaniment.
BL 331, Global Climate Change Fall 2022 The course was granted the service-learning designation for Fall 2022, when students collaborated with various community partners to complete 3 hours of service supporting sustainability initiatives in the community x 10 weeks over the semester
