The mandate of the Sustainability Committee is to:
• build a college community that works together to address sustainability issues with a specific focus on addressing the climate crisis;
• make recommendations that foster responsibility and accountability of all members of the college community regarding sustainability activities and the reduction of our carbon footprint.
Given the college’s strategic direction towards greater sustainability, the College is poised to take leadership in addressing the climate crisis in operations, policies, learning activities, and community outreach, and is reducing its carbon footprint and environmental impact.
The College’s core values of excellence in education, collaborative efforts, innovation, creativity and well-being for all (i.e. human beings, both individually and collectively, and other species) frame a holistic view of education that aligns with the College’s strategic orientation to act as an ecologically and socially responsible agent.
The College’s mission and values will be reflected in the Sustainability Committee’s commitment to advancing the College’s shift towards becoming a leading Canadian post-secondary institution in the promotion and practice of sustainability.

The Sustainability and Sandbox Office has 1 full time employee who executes the Colleges sustainability plan. The office reports annually to the College’s Directors and Board of Governors.

A brief description of the activities and substantive accomplishments of the institution-wide coordinating body or officer during the previous three years:
The office manages the College’s benchmarking and implementation of the AASHE STARS and Cégep Vert indicators and develops awareness and integration projects related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Office has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with WWF-Canada to implement the Living Planet @ Campus program. The Office in collaboration with the Sustainability Committee has created a Climate Action plan for the College.
