A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
For the purpose of calculating our carbon footprint, the College surveyed students on their commuting choices for one week in March 2023. The data showed that students chose sustainable commuting options for 8,650 or 67.7% of their reported 12,782 trips.
One trip was defined as a single one-way leg of the return daily commute i.e.: home-to-school OR school-to-home. The entire return trip to AND from school was therefore evaluated as 2 trips.
In total, 4,177 students completed the survey.

For the purpose of calculating our carbon footprint, the College surveyed employees on their commuting choices for one week in March 2023. Rather than asking them for their primary mode of transport, respondents were asked to list their choices for each of their one-way trips.
The percentages provided here are based on the number of times the respondents chose each of these modes of transport in relation to all trips reported for the sample week.
