Jefferson has a stated preference to purchased certified environmentally-friendly products. Maintenance and Operations works with vendors and suppliers to ensure only environmentally-friendly cleaners and products are purchased. On the Shelby campus, every products used is environmentally-friendly, except for floor stripper. Downtown plans to try a green solutions program with the potential to be rolled out to other campuses. Jefferson also promotes productivity in the workplace and classroom by improving ventilation and managing exposure to indoor pollutants by using low VOC products and cleaning supplies.
Environmental Services staff are trained on green chemicals as well as vendors are informed of Jeffersons commitment to green chemicals
