JMU hired Rankin & Associates Consulting to craft an externally administered climate study. A survey was administered in mid-Fall 2021. The survey included items to measure satisfaction. A large campaign for participation using, "Speak Up, Dukes!," was conducted to promote voluntary participation by current students, staff, and faculty at the time of survey. The many communications requesting participation included flyers, emails, and website promotions. It is the hope of the university to use the results to enable us to develop programs and policies that will increase inclusivity in areas which are shown to be problematic as well as enhance and replicate programs and policies in areas which are shown to be successfully meeting the needs of the community.
A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:
A committee formed by the president's office analyzed results of the survey and recommended changes to ensure improvements based on responses received from employees.

The JMU Climate Survey Questions are in the attached draft survey and include questions about job satisfaction, learning opportunities, and work culture as required by this credit. The same survey is also counted under credit PA6: Assessing Diversity and Equity.
