A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :

ISNW staff created the course inventory following a methodology consistent with the 2018 and 2022 STARS report as follows. Courses from the January 2022 STARS report were used as a starting point. Courses from that inventory that were no longer in the current undergraduate and graduate catalogs were removed. Current catalogs (2023-24) were then searched to identify new courses that met the criteria, and these courses were added to the inventory. Next, to confirm that courses in the inventory were offered, a list of Fall 2023 & Spring 2024 course offerings was searched. Only courses offered during this time were included in the inventory.

As was done for JMU's 2022 STARS submission, all new courses were categorized as sustainability-focused or sustainability-inclusive by ISNW staff independently and any differences in classification between staff were discussed and mutually agreed upon.

All courses, including practicums, internships, clinicals, special topics, performance arts, physical education, thesis/dissertation courses, and independent studies were included in the list of sustainability courses and in the list of total university courses.

AC 1, Part 2 only includes department equivalents that offered sustainability courses; academic divisions (e.g. College of Science and Math) that offered sustainability courses were not included in this count.

How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Each course was counted as a single course regardless of the number of offerings or sections
