Does the institution host a food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource focused on alleviating food insecurity, hunger and poverty among students?:
Yes
A brief description of the food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource:
The Pantry is a joint effort on campus, with direct logistical support and oversight coming from the office of Off-Campus Life, and policy and procedural development coming from the Basic Needs Advisory Board, which has representation from across the University and Harrisonburg community. We are partnered with the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank to ensure a consistent supply of quality, nutritious food. Additional support comes from JMU Dining, Panera Bread, and community donations. The Pantry offers a wide variety of shelf-stable goods, hygiene products, some fresh produce and frozen foods, and some basic school supplies. The Pantry is open to all JMU students, no questions asked.
