The course inventory was created by Essa Paterson, ISNW, November 30, 2021. Updated by Amanda Bodle, ISNW, December 9, 2021.

The School of Professional & Continuing Education (SPCE) offers programs year-round. The analysis for this credit was based on snapshots of SPCE course offerings taken from https://www.jmu.edu/pce/search.shtml in spring, summer, and fall in 2021. For the test preparation course offerings only, which are scheduled frequently, the number of test preparation courses for calendar year 2021 was provided by SPCE.

Courses that were part of an academic program were not included in the counts, since they did not meet the criteria: "Continuing education is inclusive of non-credit, community education, and extension courses and programs. Examples include non-degree career training, workforce training, credential maintenance courses, formal personal enrichment courses, self-directed learning and experiential learning (on and off campus). In some cases, non-credit students may earn continuing education units, certification, or other evidence". Multiple offerings of the same course were counted. Websites dedicated to each program were reviewed to evaluate which courses were 'sustainability course offerings'.
