A brief description of the assessment(s):
Under President Alger’s leadership a campus-wide diversity survey to gather ideas and a campus assessment about diversity was conducted. Four methods were included:
1. Focus Groups: Specific campus constituents were convened to provide their perspectives and ideas about improving JMU’s diversity climate.
2. Qualtrics Survey: The entire JMU community was able to share ideas, best practices and suggestions through a variety of directed questions to enhance diversity at JMU.
3. E-mail Comments: The JMU community directly contacted the chairs of the Diversity Task Force with their ideas, concerns and suggestions.
4. Town Hall Meetings: Four town hall meetings were conducted during the spring semester. Faculty, staff and students were able to share their perspectives, best practices and ideas on improving the climate at JMU. This format provided some insightful perspectives into campus attitudes, perceptions and overall sense of inclusivity.
