A brief description of steps taken to ensure that e-waste is recycled responsibly, workers’ basic safety is protected, and environmental standards are met:

Electronics that are university assets are recycled through a vendor that is listed as certified by an EPA-recognized e-cycle certifying body. As outlined by the EPA, "These programs advance best management practices and offer a way to assess the environmental, worker health, and security practices of entities managing used electronics. Specifically, these certification programs are based on strong environmental standards which maximize reuse and recycling, minimize exposure to human health or the environment, ensure safe management of materials by downstream handlers, and require destruction of all data on used electronics."

Deskside recycling bins are available to all faculty and staff upon request, and small electronic waste items, such as batteries and small toner cartridges, may be placed in those deskside bins for daily collection.
