JMU has multiple student groups who conduct work related to sustainability. Several groups' descriptions are provided below as examples: "E.A.R.T.H. Club (Environmental Awareness and Restoration Through our Help) strives to bring awareness to pertinent environmental issues on campus, in the local area and regionally. They work to improve JMU’s eco-friendly record by making the campus sustainable, improving conservation methods and efficiency, promoting reduced consumption and recycling, and reducing carbon emissions. Projects E.A.R.T.H. Club has worked on include the issues of Mountaintop Removal, the Endangered Species Act, RecycleMania, and Wise Energy for Virginia. More information can be found at http://orgs.jmu.edu/jmuearth/home.htm.
