IC's last climate survey was conducted more than 3 years ago, however in 2019 IC developed the Ithaca Forever strategic plan - which engaged numerous community members - that adopts an equity framework that proactively seeks to make IC accessible, affordable, and inclusive for all people.

IC's strategic plan developed in 2019 analyzed and prioritized diversity equity and inclusion, identifying the goal of "becoming a national model for colleges committed to the values of diversity, equity and inclusion".

Various "in person" community as well as virtual meetings were held during the strategic planning process and continue throughout its implementation.
