Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County has a long history of working with IC volunteers and interns across various kinds of projects in our community. Many of those are focused on social issues or around sustainability. Examples of programs/projects we have partnered on include:
- sensitivity/diversity training with the IC Eco Reps
- The Student Housing Energy Reduction Program (SHERP) that educates students on energy and water savings, conflict resolution, and increasing housing affordability.

Ithaca College has been an active member of the Tompkins County Planning Advisory Board (PAB) which helps guide and advise the work plan for the Tompkins County Department of Planning & Sustainability. A series of multi-beneficial projects has resulted as a part of involvement with this community group.
