Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Mobile Food Pantry and The Pantry
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
In 2017, Ithaca College partnered with the Food Bank of the Southern Tier to bring the Mobile Food Pantry to campus once per month throughout the year. The Mobile Pantry is free and available to both the IC and larger Tompkins County community, offering fresh vegetables, non-perishables, and ready-made meals.
Due to the popularity and high-use of the Mobile Food Pantry, in 2018, Ithaca College built an additional, on-campus food pantry (The Pantry) to compliment the monthly mobile pantry. The Pantry is only available to IC students, faculty, and staff and has been stocked largely with donations from the IC community.
