Does the institution use xeriscape landscaping techniques, including the selection of drought tolerant plants?:
Yes

A brief description of the program or practice:

All landscape beds and trees on campus are extensively mulched and the soil amended with compost to retain water and greatly reduce the amount of or altogether eliminate the need for additional irrigation.

For the vegetated roof structures on the two LEED Platinum-certified buildings: the Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise and the Peggy R. Williams Center, drought-tolerant sedums were used in the planting design for both buildings. On the Park Center, the vegetated roof also features prairie grass, which is drought-tolerant. The exterior landscaping for both buildings featured drought-tolerant, low-maintenance grass species to reduce mowing, weeding, turf maintenance and need for irrigation.
