Has the institution developed a definition of sustainability research?:

A copy of the institution's definition of sustainability research:

We use the same criteria for research as for education for sustainable development, which is the United Nations (UNESCO) definition of education for sustainable development.

UNESCO guidelines state that education for sustainable development is about learning to:
•respect, value and preserve the achievements of the past;
•appreciate the wonders and the peoples of the Earth;
•live in a world where all people have sufficient food for a healthy and productive life;
•assess, care for and restore the state of our Planet;
•create and enjoy a better, safer, more just world;
•be caring citizens who exercise their rights and responsibilities locally, nationally and globally

Has the institution identified its sustainability research activities and initiatives?:

A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the inventory:

We post opportunities for student sustainability science research, overseen by Dr. Susan Swensen, Biology. http://www.ithaca.edu/hs/depts/biology/docs/research/swensen/

In addition, we post past student sustainability research projects on a WIKI site to help prevent duplication of prior efforts. http://sites.google.com/a/ithaca.edu/sustainability-projects-at-ic/

Does the institution make its sustainability research inventory publicly available online?:

The website URL where the sustainability research inventory is posted (required if claiming Part 3 of the credit):
