University Sustainability Committee
The University Sustainability Committee is charged with developing a set of actionable recommendations that will increase energy efficiency, energy conservation and use of renewable energy with the goal of moving Iowa State toward carbon neutrality.

Established in February 2020, the University Sustainability Committee works with and builds off the efforts of existing campus groups involved in sustainability efforts, including Facilities Planning and Management and the Office of Sustainability's Live Green initiative.

Advisory Committee on Sustainability
Advises the Director of Sustainability on policies, initiatives and opportunities to support and enhance education and awareness, engagement and empowerment toward sustainability and a more sustainable lifestyle.

Campus Green Teams
Enhances sustainability efforts, education and engagement within a specified building, college, department or operational area.

Live Green! Revolving Loan Fund Advisory Committee
Reviews loan fund applications, monitors use of loan funds, as well as publicizes project results.

Student Government Sustainability and Green Initiatives Fund Committees
Works directly with the ISU Student Government Director of Sustainability to connect, support and fund student initiatives on campus that promote environmental, social and economic sustainability.

Sustainability Reporting Group
Monitors, assesses and responds to informational requests from external reporting organizations.

A brief description of each sustainability office:

The Office of Sustainability oversees Iowa State University's Live Green! campus-wide sustainability initiative, encouraging all students, faculty and staff to be fully committed to and engaged in making our campus, our operations and initiatives environmentally, economically and socially sustainable.

The Live Green! initiative began in 2008, and offered two challenges to all students, faculty, and staff:

- To be a leader in sustainability among land grant institutions.
- To recognize that the involvement and dedication of every member of the Iowa State University community is critical to achieving this goal.

This office includes a full-time Director of Sustainability (shared with the City of Ames), a half-time Sustainability Coordinator graduate student position five half-time undergraduate interns and two half-time undergraduate interns (shared with the City of Ames).

The Director of Sustainability oversight includes the following:

Coordination of the Live Green! Initiative;
Form and facilitate committees as needed related to goals and action items;
Provide students, staff, and faculty with sustainability education, engagement and empowerment resources, encompassing environmental, economic and social sustainability;
Strengthen and enhance partnerships and collaborative opportunities among campus and community experts and expertise; and
Publicize, promote and communicate Iowa State’s sustainability efforts and accomplishments.
