A brief description of the institution’s third party certified land holdings:
Tree Campus USA is a certification earned from the Arbor Day Foundation based on a series of five standards relating to tree health and student involvement. The five standards include: the creation of a campus tree advisory committee, a campus tree care plan, dedicated annual expenditures for the campus tree program, hosting an arbor day observance and completing a service learning project.
Each year in December, universities and colleges must submit applications for renewal of their Tree Campus USA designations providing proof of their commitment to the program and the benefits it provides to the campus trees. Iowa State University has been awarded Tree Campus USA status since 2015.
The boundaries of the ISU’s Tree Campus program are the same as the boundaries provided for ISU’s STARS application.
Iowa State University earned its first Tree Campus USA designation in 2016 and has remained certified for 7 years.
