A brief description of the institution’s programs that help increase the diversity of higher education faculty :
As part of ISU’s efforts to diversify its faculty membership, ISU ADVANCE was created in 2006. This program has become Iowa State’s most prominent vehicle to recruit, retain, and advance women and women of color in STEM faculty positions.
In addition, the Iowa State Conference on Race & Ethnicity (ISCORE) is a comprehensive forum on issues of race and ethnicity at Iowa State University and beyond. The conference assists ISU in creating inclusive environments, improving campus racial and ethnic relations, and expanding opportunities for access to education for traditionally underrepresented populations.
Iowa State University also offers funding for graduate students with a disability through its Graduate Disability Assistantship Program (GDAP). Eligible applicants include degree-seeking Masters or Ph.D. students.
Finally, Iowa State University offers financial assistance to US citizens who are members of ethnic groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education through its Graduate Minority Assistantship Program (GMAP). Degree-seeking Masters or Ph.D. students are eligible, and GMAP is among the university's most widely-applied financial programs for graduate students.
