Querétaro Circular:


"In 2018, the Climate Change Law for the State of Querétaro was published, and the “Forum on Conservation Economy and Transition to Circular Economy in Mexico” took place, convened by various civil society organizations, educational institutions, research centers, companies, consulting groups, and government agencies. From this Forum emerged the “Querétaro Declaration to Create an Innovative and Interactive Ecosystem Favorable to an Inclusive Circular Economy.”


In this context, the Circular Economy System of the State was created in January 2021 by the Secretariat of Sustainable Development (SEDESU) and the Automotive Cluster of Querétaro.


The Institutional Chain of the Circular Economy System of the State of Querétaro includes the participation of the Polytechnic University of Querétaro (UPQ), UTEQ, the Aeronautical University of Querétaro, and the TEC de Monterrey Querétaro campus. Training on the topic is provided to facilitators who will offer support to companies adhering to the system."


Interuniversity Manifesto Querétaro Circular:


"A manifesto of 12 commitments signed by 34 higher education institutions in the state of Querétaro. These institutions participated in the signing of the Interuniversity Manifesto Querétaro Circular to address the challenges of climate change, sustainability, and transition to a circular economy in the state.


The manifesto includes the presence of four core sectors: academia, civil society, the private sector, and the public sector. Querétaro Circular emphasized the formation of an alliance to co-construct this roadmap, involving 30 actors from each of the four sectors, totaling 120 actors working to define these new collective agreements.


The manifesto includes 12 commitments ranging from the development of research projects on the subject, promoting a culture of sustainability, encouraging the inclusion of sustainability and circular economy topics in curricula, to fostering interinstitutional and intersectoral collaboration to share best practices."


The Querétaro campus is part of the Water Advisory Council, which aims to generate initiatives for the improvement of water capture, retention, and treatment in the State of Querétaro.

• UC3 Conference 2022: Higher Education Climate Leadership Summit, convened over 650 participants for 4 days covering sustainability topics in operations, endowment investing, academics, and policy. Opportunities for participants to connect, emphasizing the urgency of climate action and strategies to direct capital towards solutions and frontline communities.

 

• ISCN: a workshop organized by the Latin American Chapter of the ISCN in collaboration with UNAM. The Sustainability and Climate Change Plan for 2025 was presented, emphasizing the importance of culture as a cross-cutting theme and addressing strategies to drive a cultural shift within the organization.

• Net Zero on Campus (SDSN): SDSN has developed the Net Zero on Campus Initiative in collaboration with the Climateworks Centre, Monash University, Second Nature, and the EAUC. Together, they created a guide and accompanying online toolkit to help universities and colleges accelerate their climate action plans, while creating a new global community of practice.

 

• The 5th P (Persuade) Handbook (Race To Zero):The handbook focuses on adopting the 5th P 'Persuade' in the Race to Zero, outlining guidance for various non-state actors. It provides specific 'Policy Asks' and 'Engagement Actions' to contribute to the global emission reduction goal by 2030.
