Re: Source Fuel Competition – SEIDS. A competition focused on creating homemade biodigesters for the production of biogas using organic waste from CAETEC cows.


TecDroid 4Them – TecDroid. Our mission is to be a model team in Mexico, organizing community-centered activities to spark curiosity and interest in STEAM disciplines among the youth of the Querétaro region, through the active inclusion of various community sectors. We are also committed to providing tools and opportunities that inspire generations to become leaders through science, technology, and social action.

March


Conference on Agricultural Megapests - IAAS. Informing students about the most effective strategies to eliminate and study pests in agricultural fields. Speaker: Edison Torrado.


Visit to Wind Power Plant - SEIDS. Promoting knowledge about renewable energies, raising environmental awareness, and providing a practical educational experience on sustainable electricity generation through wind energy at the Huimilpan plant.


Open-Air Fertilization Calculation – Horticulture Club. Teaching students the importance and results of good fertilization, along with learning the methods of it. Attendees: 30 people.


Introduction to Phytopathology: The Science of Plant Diseases – Horticulture Club. Establishing the importance of different groups of phytopathogens (fungi, bacteria, viruses, nematodes, oomycetes) and abiotic factors limiting agricultural production. Attendees: 50 people.


Insects and Mites: Main Pests in Agriculture – Horticulture Club. Establishing the importance of major agricultural pests, including insects and mites. Characteristics and damages caused by these agents. Attendees: 50 people.


April


Aquathon – Social Responsibility Council. In support of the Kristen Foundation, the Aquathon 2023 joins efforts between the representative swimming team and the campus student groups to raise funds to cover medical studies (electrocardiograms) for low-income children, adolescents, and pregnant women.


International Biotechnology Congress - QUORUM. Seeking an approach to the job market in an environment conducive to professional development. The agenda included lectures, short talks, panels, and workshops focused on Space Biotechnology, to spread the topic and offer students a new professional path.


Inclusion Bazaar - AIRE. Promoting the reuse and recycling of textiles, reducing waste, fostering responsible consumption, and creating a community aware of the environmental impact of the fashion industry.


Sustainability Declaration Signing – Ruta Azul. Signing a document that decrees the commitment of student groups and directors to undertake actions that favor sustainability on campus. Attendees: 100 people.


Training for Student Groups. Waste Management and Reduction – Ruta Azul. Training provided by sustainable development engineers to student group leaders to improve the management of existing waste and reduce the waste generated at future events. Attendees: 50 people.


Farewell to Sheep – SEIDS. An awareness event to retire the sheep from the campus. Attendees: 80 people.

Green Week – iGEM. Educating and raising awareness in the community about advances in biotechnology, promoting sustainable practices, encouraging knowledge exchange, and stimulating collaboration for innovative solutions in environmental conservation.


Plant-Based Vaccine Production for Diseases – SEBIOTEC. Exploring and disseminating advances in plant biotechnology applied to health, promoting research and development of vaccines, and fostering collaboration among scientists, healthcare professionals, and the industry to innovate in more sustainable and accessible vaccine production methods.


Artificial Insemination Course in Cattle – Animal Science Club. A course aimed at students interested in agronomy to learn about the reproductive system and/or reinforce the knowledge acquired in classes.


“Sustainable Bioconstruction” Training - SEIDS. An event that lasted several weeks where different training sessions were given. Training by Dr. Monserrat Ramírez on the concept of constructed wetlands. Training by Dr. Pabel Calderón on water treatment. Training by Dr. Gerardo Bernadac on wetlands as a method of water treatment. Attendees: 100 people.


Cause Collection – ALMAS. Gathering essential material resources such as food, clothing, and hygiene products to support the residents of the Jesús orphanage, improve their quality of life, and foster community solidarity.

Amealco Artisan Market – Metamorphosis. Giving visibility and support to artisans from the marginalized area of Amealco, promoting their products and culture, and creating a space where they can market their crafts, thus strengthening the local economy.


August


Conference on Trade in Agricultural Sectors - SEIAG. Conducted by Arturo Calderón Ruanova for students to analyze and discuss trends and challenges in agricultural trade, promoting sustainable trade practices. Attendees: 25 people.


Tierra Adentro – Metamorphosis. A clay ceramics workshop where participants have the opportunity to explore their creativity and artistic skills using clay as the main medium. Attendees: 50 people.


September


Soap Making Workshop with Essential Oils – iGEM. Teaching participants artisanal techniques to create natural soaps, promoting the use of eco-friendly and healthy ingredients, and encouraging entrepreneurial skills and self-sufficiency in personal hygiene product making.


November


Half Dinner – Social Responsibility Council. Raising awareness among attendees about the reality of low-income students, fostering empathy and solidarity, and raising funds for scholarships for needy students, thus promoting education and equal opportunities.

How Nutrients Work in Plants? (Berries) - SEIAG. A talk with Exatec to educate participants about the fundamental processes of plant nutrition, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and provide applicable knowledge to improve plant health and performance in various growing environments. Attendees: 25 people.

o   Measurement of Soil Health: After inoculation with microbial consortia.

o   Application of Biological Control: For integrated pest and disease management.


o   Monitoring the Use of Plastics: In consumables within the protected agriculture area.

o   Creation of an Apiary: In the area adjacent to protected agriculture for validating the integration of protected agriculture with the apiary.
