Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Work-life balance
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
In June 2021, INRS introduced a Telework Policy, allowing staff members to work remotely for up to 4 days and spend 1 day at the office. The implementation of this policy enables employees to better balance work and personal life while saving commuting time. You can find the policy here: https://inrs.ca/wp-content/uploads/POL-Teletravail-VFP.pdf
INRS is following an Inclusive Excellence approach, which is notable in Quebec. This approach includes awareness-raising and engagement activities that will be conducted in the fall, as well as best practice guides.
INRS has a Working Group on Work-Life Balance for faculty, which was established in response to an emerging issue during the pandemic (unfair and unsustainable management and work practices in academia).
Furthermore, in 2021, INRS has put in place a financial support for students during parental leave. INRS is the first and only university establishment in Quebec to set up a program to financially support students on parental leave. This program is part of INRS's institutional commitment to offering its students and research staff, as well as its entire community, an equitable, diversified and inclusive living environment. https://inrs.ca/actualites/linrs-devient-le-premier-etablissement-universitaire-a-soutenir-sa-population-etudiante-lors-dun-conge-parental/
