LGBTQ+ and Title IX:
In August 2020, IU’s sexual misconduct policy was revised:
The University Director of Institutional Equity who serves as IU’s Title IX coordinator stated the following:

“When the U.S. Department of Education released the new Title IX regulations in May 2020- we started working with a number of people across the university, including students and faculty, to revise our existing policy to meet the new law's Aug. 14 compliance date. We revised and renamed UA-03: Discrimination, Harassment, and Sexual Misconduct as an interim policy for this academic year." In addition to ensuring the interim policy meets the new regulations for Title IX-specific cases, we also made sure other procedures remain in place to address sexual misconduct not covered under Title IX, as well as to incorporate procedures for responding to all complaints of discrimination and harassment based on the protected classes set forth in IU's non-discrimination state:

Immigration and DACA:
Former President McRobbie (retired in 2021) was very vocal about the Federal Government's termination of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program. In 2020, President Michael A. McRobbie issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling today blocking the termination of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
"Indiana University applauds the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling to block termination of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which protects hundreds of thousands of young immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children from deportation. We will work within the bounds of the law to support you in the pursuit of your dreams, and, as expressed on our comprehensive DACA @ IU website, we will continue to vigorously investigate and refer for prosecution anyone who threatens, intimidates, or harasses any member of our community. And we will continue and intensify IU's long-standing advocacy for expanded access to higher education for all IU students living in the U.S."
