A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
Each entry listed on the Indiana University Southeast Faculty Research and Creative Activity Report 2019 & 2020 were evaluated to assess whether it aligned with one or more of the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs). Each item that aligned with one or more of the SDGs was selected as research that is related to Sustainability and added to the Indiana University Southeast Sustainability Research Inventory. All faculty and staff identified within a presentation, publication, or activity are included as researchers.

The first tab labeled "Inventory" lists all of the research presented and/or published by tenured and tenure-track representatives. Each highlighted row indicates the start of a new researcher.

The second tab labeled "Stats" includes a list of faculty as well as the number of employees listed in the inventory broken down by schools.

Elaborated Response to the Following Question:
Question:
Total number of employees that conduct research

Answer:
The total number of employees that conduct research provided reflects 3 years. However, the research inventory only reflects 2 years. As mentioned the 2021 report has not been released. The reason we chose to report on the total number of employees over a 3-year range instead of 2 is that it is more useful data than looking at just the past 1-2 years because the pandemic skewed a lot of deadlines for presenting/publishing research and creative work.

Addtional information for context:
The research topics listed in the inventory provided are produced by tenured or tenure-track faculty—because those are the faculty for whom research is an expectation of their job.

Faculty in every department on campus engage in research or similar scholarly/creative activity. (we have expanded our language to creative activity in order to capture the work in fine arts and performing arts fields. It’s not exactly research, but it’s the equivalent for artists.) Our promotion and tenure guidelines have similarities across campus, and every tenure-track or tenured faculty member is expected to engage in research or creative activity.
