The MyVoice at IU engagement survey consists of 12 questions designed by Gallup to measure employee engagement. An additional 10 questions regarding communication, trust, diversity and mission were asked as well. (Faculty did not participate in 2017 and 2019)


A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation (including examples from the previous three years):

Action plans are used to address issues. In 2017, 30 actions plans were developed by IU South Bend departments. The 2019 results were shared with employees in January 2020 and action planning is currently underway.

IU South Bend is participating in a survey about faculty life. The survey is from the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) at UCLA and reviews work conditions, professional development, teaching and learning priorities, campus climate. This national survey has been administered since 1989 to over 1100 colleges and universities. IU South Bend last participated in the 1990s. The survey will be open until April 30, 2020. Results from the survey will be widely disseminated over the summer and the first of the new academic year. IU South Bend results can also be compared to results from the national data. It is anticipated that the results from the survey will inform strategic planning efforts and indicate areas that need to be addressed as well as to highlight faculty priorities. Participation in the survey is totally voluntary and responses will be confidential.
