Each article listed on the Indiana University South Bend Faculty/Staff Publications List 2018 was evaluated to assess which publications aligned with one or more of the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs). Each publication that aligned with one or more of the SDGS was selected as research that is related to Sustainability and added to the Indiana University South Bend Sustainability research inventory. All faculty and staff that published research are included as researchers.

The Indiana University South Bend Faculty/Staff Publications List 2018 was retrieved from IU South Bend Office of Research Administration, and used to determine which publications are related to Sustainability. This list was also used to determine the Part 1 data; total number of the institution’s faculty and/or staff that are engaged in research (headcount), Number of the institution’s faculty and/or staff that are engaged in sustainability research (headcount), and Part 2 data; Total number of academic departments (or the equivalent) that include at least one faculty or staff member that conducts research, Number of academic departments (or the equivalent) that include at least one faculty or staff member that conducts sustainability research.
