The Master of Public Affairs (MPA) program at the O’Neill School at IUPUI will advance your understanding of public, private, and nonprofit organizations that serve the public interest. Our 39-credit-hour MPA emphasizes professional practice across disciplines, preparing students for responsible and informed legal, management, financial, and budgetary leadership roles in the public and nonprofit sector. The Environmental Policy and Sustainability concentration prepares students with the ideas and technical skills needed to address the challenges and opportunities found in handling environmental and sustainability issues such as air and water protection at or near industrial sites, mercury and lead exposure, environmental justice, urban green space, and climate change.

The IU Board of Trustees has approved A new Master of Science degree in global health and sustainable development for IUPUI. The IU Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health at IUPUI program is the first Master of Science program in the country to be designed around the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. Graduates will be qualified for careers as international health workers, global health practitioners, public health advisers, medical officers, disaster relief support, international aid workers, and more.

The Graduate Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship is an 18-credit-hour program of study offered in partnership with the Kelley School of Business. Students must be admitted to the Master of Public Affairs program or the Master of Business Administration program at IUPUI to participate in this certificate program.

The Indiana University Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship: Nonprofit and Public Benefit Organizations was the first formal, university-based program of its kind in Indiana when it launched in 2006. It is offered to graduate students on both the Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses.

The certificate prepares students to innovatively approach public needs with a combination of entrepreneurial practices and social purposes—through the for-profit, nonprofit, and governmental sectors.

Fairbanks School of Public Health Graduate Certificate in Public Health is a 15-credit hour program of study designed to meet the needs of working public health professionals who wish to advance their careers by continuing their education. Completing the Certificate will provide you with a strong foundation in public health theory and concepts.
By completing the Graduate Certificate in Public Health, you will learn how to:
Use biostatistical methods to analyze and report public health data
Specify approaches to assess, prevent, and control environmental and occupational hazards to human health and safety
Use epidemiologic methods to collect, study, analyze and report the patterns of disease in human populations for diverse audiences
Apply policy process, development and analysis methods to address current national, state and local public health issues

Certificate in Hybrid Electric Vehicle Technology

A brief description of the graduate minor, concentration or certificate (3rd program):

Development of the next generation of fuel-efficient and environmentally-responsible advanced electric drive vehicles is one of the nation’s top priorities. The State of Indiana plays a major role in the design, development, and manufacturing of these types of vehicles, such as electric vehicle (EV), hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) or plugin hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), or their components. This is a very technically intensive and competitive field that requires multidisciplinary approaches. Expertise in the HEV technology will be greatly needed to meet the demands in the hybrid vehicle sector of the automotive industry.

This certificate program is designed to address industry's increased needs for engineers having expertise in EV/HEV/PHEV. It will prepare today's engineers to be competitive in taking on the new challenges facing the industry so that the companies in automotive sector can compete globally.
