A brief description of the institution’s main campus and other aspects of the institutional boundary used to complete this report:

Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), a partnership between Indiana and Purdue universities, is Indiana’s urban research and academic health sciences campus. IUPUI’s mission is to advance the state of Indiana and the intellectual growth of its citizens to the highest levels nationally and internationally through research and creative activity, teaching and learning, and civic engagement. By offering a distinctive range of bachelor’s, master’s, professional, and Ph.D. degrees, IUPUI promotes the educational, cultural, and economic development of central Indiana and beyond through innovative collaborations, external partnerships, and a strong commitment to diversity (7 time winner of the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award). Nearly 87% of the student body are Indiana residents, with 6% coming from abroad and the remaining from out of state.

IUPUI is a medical research university campus in an urban setting offering a comprehensive portfolio of professional and arts and sciences degrees supported by experiential learning opportunities.  Among more than 450 academic programs, IUPUI is Indiana’s premier health and life sciences campus, with over 2,900 Doctoral Practice students.  IUPUI is the primary campus for the Indiana University School of Medicine, the Indiana University School of Dentistry; the only dental school in the state, the IU School of Nursing, the School of Health and Human Sciences and the Fairbanks School of Public Health. Also represented among the graduate schools, the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law is one of the only two law schools operated by Indiana University, with the Indiana University Maurer School of Law being the Bloomington equivalent. The Lilly Family School of Philanthropy is the world’s first school dedicated solely to the study and teaching of philanthropy.

The IUPUI Jaguars compete in the NCAA's Division I in the Horizon League. Several athletics venues are located on the campus, including the IU Michael A. Carroll Track & Soccer Stadium and Indiana University Natatorium, the largest indoor pool in the United States, with a seating capacity of over 4,700.

Closely affiliated and included in the reporting of IUPUI are IUPUColumbus and IU Ft Wayne.

Which of the following features are present on campus and which are included within the institutional boundary?:
Present? Included?
Agricultural school No No
Medical school Yes Yes
Other professional school with labs or clinics (e.g. dental, nursing, pharmacy, public health, veterinary) Yes Yes
Museum No No
Satellite campus Yes Yes
Farm larger than 2 hectares or 5 acres No No

The rationale for excluding any features that are present from the institutional boundary:

Hospital: IU School of Medicine, Nursing, and Dental students and faculty in Indianapolis benefit from strong partnerships with local area hospitals in the IU Health network, including IU Health University Hospital, Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, and the IU Simon Cancer Center. These hospital facilities are located within the IUPUI boundaries, but are financially administered and operated independently of IUPUI, thus not included in STARS reporting.
