A brief description of the institution’s formal participatory or shared governance bodies:
IUPUI Student Government - https://iustudentgovernment.indiana.edu/ There are three branches—the Undergraduate Student Government, Graduate and Professional Student Government, and Supreme Court. All three help to manage campuswide events, enact new campus legislation, and work with faculty and administrators to create positive change.
There is also a separate IUPUI Faculty Council of elected faculty representatives, chaired by the Chancellor: https://facultycouncil.iupui.edu/
IUPUI Staff Council - https://staffcouncil.iupui.edu/ Acts as a voice of the staff in collaborating with the entire campus community by fostering accountability and best practices in supporting and carrying out the vision, mission, and goals of the university. Increase the sense of identity, recognition, and value experience of each staff member in his/her relationship to the university and to identify concerns and to seek their solutions.

The IU Board of Trustees hosts open forums throughout the year where the public is invited to listen and comment on university decision-making. Public forum topics vary based on university needs, as well as state requirements. Comments/questions may be offered in person, virtually, or via email.
