Indiana University’s Grand Challenges aims to impact the lives of everyday Hoosiers by leveraging the university's academic expertise to solve problems through collaboration with communities and the state.
IU defines Grand Challenges as major, focused, and large-scale problems facing humanity that can be solved only by teams of dedicated researchers working across disciplines in collaboration with community partners.
IU's three Grant Challenge efforts include:

IU Government Relations:
IU Government Relations oversees all activity, support, and involvement of IU in all political engagement. IU has been represented in Washington, DC in support of various Higher Education and Public Policy and Health Initiatives at the National Level. https://gov.iu.edu/federal/iu-leadership.html
International advocacy

COP Participation
IU has sent a delegation of faculty and students to both COP26 and COP27. In FY22, International Studies professor Jessica O’Reilly attended COP26 with students from her international climate government course. The delegation for COP28 is expected to include 16 students.
