Documentation
Do the figures reported above cover one, two, or three academic years?:
A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
The course inventory was extracted from the IUPUI Course Bulletin for courses offered in academic year 2022, filtered to show only courses that had been allowed to be scheduled and had enrollment. A keyword list was developed using IU Bloomington and IUPUI's previous keyword list, as well as keywords listed publicly by the University of Toronto and THE Impact Rankings. Each keyword was mapped to one of the Sustainable Development Goals, and each SDG mapped to exactly one sphere of sustainability: Social, Economic, or Environmental. The Course Description found in the Course Bulletin was scanned for keywords, and SDGs were assigned to the course based on keywords. Courses registering 5 or more keywords originally were reviewed for accuracy. The applicability of SDGs then informed the total number of spheres of sustainability to course applied to. Courses registering against exactly 2 spheres were included in the "Sustainability Inclusive" category. Courses that registered against all 3 spheres were considered "Sustainability Focused." All Inclusive and Focused courses were then manually reviewed for accuracy.
How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
A brief description of how courses with multiple offerings or sections were counted:
Courses offered multiple times were counted in multiples in both the numerator and denominator of the above figures.
