Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
IUPUI: Indianapolis' Largest Adopt-a-Block Captain

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
On Arbor Day 2019, IUPUI announced the adoption of all 68 blocks of campus as part of Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB) Adopt-A-Block program. This commitment to keep public spaces clean and beautiful made IUPUI the largest “KIB Adopt-A-Block Captain” in Indianapolis.

The partnership between KIB and IUPUI signals the university's commitment to promoting environmental stewardship of the land on our campus. This involves continued efforts to eliminate litter, plant native species, track and increase the campus tree canopy, and educate our students, faculty and staff about the importance of caring for the natural environment. Additionally, twice a year, KIB and IUPUI partner for a campus tree planting. These plantings consistently draw dozens of volunteers from across the campus.
