A brief description of the methodology used to determine the total number of courses offered and to identify sustainability course offerings, including the definitions used and the process for reviewing and/or validating the course inventory :

The Course Inventory was extracted from the IU Course Bulletin for courses offered in the Sum2017/Fall2017/Spring2018 for FY18. Over 5,000 courses offered with over 29,000 total sections . Identified courses were selected based on Course Bulletin Data search and extraction of Key words containing sustainability terms. Courses were filtered for Sustainability related Key Words. The filtered Courses were then reviewed for level of Sustainability addressing the 3 spheres of Sustainability: Environmental, Social, Economics. Courses covering at least 2 sphere topics are recorded as Including Sustainability. Courses covering all 3 sphere topics are reported as a Sustainability Course Offering.
