A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting, including the timeframe for when the analysis was conducted and how a representative sample was reached, if applicable:
An extensive employee and student transportation survey was conducted in the fall of 2017, in collaboration with Indiana University Bloomington Center for Survey Research. 34% of the student body (configuring a representative sample), undergraduate and graduate received the survey. The survey focused on three areas for gathering commuting information; how employees and students who live off-campus currently commute to campus; how aware are employees and off-campus students of currently offered Transportation Demand Management (TDM) programs; and what TDM programs and campus transportation infrastructure improvements would encourage more use of alternative modes for commuting to IUB.
