Indiana University has developed both a Bicycle Master Plan(www.iu.edu/~vpcpf/img/master-plans/IUB-Bicycle-Master-Plan.pdf) and a Transportation Demand Management Plan (www.indiana.edu/~sustain/resources/docs/transportation-demand-management-study.pdf) as well as hiring the University’s first Bicycle Manager. Additionally, as part of IU’s Hoosier Commuter Club, if you register as a bicycle commuter and give up your parking permit, you are eligible for the Guaranteed Ride Home program as well as drawings for prizes to incentivize not only riding your bicycle but also carpooling, walking or taking transit.
As a result of recommendations from the League of American Bicyclists, the campus has been expanding and increasing the number of bicycle lanes, vetting bicycle sharing programs, and established a bike-share pilot, among other actions.
