The Catalyst newsletter was first published in 2010 by the Office of Sustainability. The monthly digital newsletter highlights current projects and accomplishments relating to sustainability, and includes news articles, past and upcoming events, features on individual student interns/projects, and a note from the sustainability director. The weekly "This Week in Sustainability" newsletter features a variety of sustainability related events, both on campus and in the community.

IU's primary student blog, We Are IU, has a section devoted to sustainability (www.weareiu.com/blog/sustainability) and The IU Office of Sustainability maintains a blog as well: (https://iusustain.wordpress.com/) The IU Student Sustainability Council (https://www.facebook.com/iubssc/) and Hoosier to Hoosier Sale also have their own social media presence.

Student Newspaper Coverage

The Indiana Daily Student has an environmental and agricultural news beat reporter and the paper publishes articles with a sustainability theme quite regularly.

Student Research Publication

A brief description of the vehicle to publish and disseminate student research on sustainability:
The Sustainability Internship Symposia feature the research and program development projects of IU Bloomington's sustainability interns. The event typically features three sustainability internship presentations, a poster session featuring work from each of the 16 to 18 interns, and lunch featuring local food. There is no cost to attend. Symposia are held twice annually - once in April, and once in August, and have expanded to include research posters created by recipients of the Sustainability Research Development Grants, as well as the work of the 2020 Sustainability Scholars, in addition to those of sustainability interns.

Green Building Signage

The Union Street Center (Cedar Hall) has a large sign detailing the green building features of the building designed (which was designed to LEED Silver standards). The Indiana Memorial Union also features signage about ongoing efforts to improve sustainability in operations and maintenance of the existing building.

Sustainable Food Systems Information

Yes

A brief description of the signage and/or brochures that include information about sustainable food systems:
Residential Program dining, as well as vending machine dining, visually distinguish vegan, local, and REAL food items, as identified by the REAL food challenge. Campus vending utilizes a red light, yellow light, green light visual label that communicates healthier "on the go" choices. Finally, Residential Program Dining regularly offers "Meatless Monday" meals and provides literature to students on the health and environmental benefits of choosing meat-free entrees. Similarly, the Indiana Memorial Union holds a "Eat Vegan For Lunch" campaign yearly that highlights the benefits of eating vegan for the environment and for public health.

The walking at IU page lists walking resources including a Bloomington Parks and Recreation trail guide, other walking trails guides, a self-guided campus walking tour map, local walking events, and estimates of the amount of time it will take to walk between various campus locations.
