A brief description of the institution’s efforts to support alternative fuel and power technology in its motorized fleet:
Where possible, Motor Pool purchases vehicles with flex fuel engines capable of using E85. We are evaluating hybrid and plug in hybrid vehicles as alternatives in each vehicle class. We are currently evaluating the use of B20 diesel in our diesel powered vehicles. The IU Office of Sustainability has completed analyzes of alternative fuel technology and recommended purchasing hybrid electric replacement buses. To date no funding source has been identified for the purchase of alternative fueled buses.
