A brief description of how multiple stakeholder groups were involved in developing the plan:

Builds on Campus sustainability report: This report summarizes the efforts of the Indiana University Task Force on Campus Sustainability to develop a comprehensive program in sustainability for the IU Bloomington campus. The work is the product of a broad-based effort by over 100 Indiana University faculty, staff, and students, under the leadership of a 16-member Task Force, who have examined issues of environmental sustainability across a broad swath of academic, administrative, and operational programs at IUB.


A brief description of the plan’s measurable goals :

• Completing an emissions inventory.
• Within two years, setting a target date and interim milestones for becoming climate neutral.
• Taking immediate steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by choosing from a list of short-term actions.
• Integrating sustainability into the curriculum and making it part of the educational experience.
• Making the action plan, inventory and progress reports publicly available.


A brief description of how progress in meeting the plan’s goals is measured:

The Campus Sustainability Report plans are currently available through the Office of Sustainability website. Greenhouse gas emissions from the last inventory are also made available online. Starting in March 2011 a greenhouse gas inventory will be conducted yearly.
