A brief description of how the institution ensures compliance with sustainable building operation and maintenance guidelines and policies:

The University has set LEED® Silver certification as its benchmark for all major new construction and renovation projects, as indicated in the Campus Master Plan (page 119). The Campus Master Plan also recommends (page 183) that 10% of existing buildings be certified under LEED with another 10% achieving at least 10 points on LEED credit EA1 (energy efficiency) and another 10% achieving at least 19 points on LEED EA1 by 2020. As part of the 2020 Vision for IUB, at least 20 buildings will be certified by LEED by 2020 (see also http://www.indiana.edu/~sustain/documents/A_Decade_of_Sustainability_2020_Vision_Final.pdf ).
