The primary social media page for the Office of Sustainability and all sustainability on campus and in the community is an Instagram account. The Office of Sustainability utilizes the Instagram page to highlight campus, community, and worldwide sustainability initiatives, issues, and topics.

Sycamore Scholars is a tool that is managed by the ISU Cunningham Memorial Library that acts to publish, disseminate, and archive student research. We submit the data and final reports from our sustainability classes to this database and have students access that data to build on previous research.

Our building signage is somewhat limited, but we just recently had our first LEED Silver building certified on campus and that building has signage that educates about its green features. There are also signs in the buildings that speak on electricity usage and attempt to have people turn off the lights when they are not necessary.

Sustainable Food Systems Information

Sodexo provides local and organic food in a limited number of its venues and is available for catering. They include signage at Generations restaurant that talks about the local and organic food with some good detailed information about the sourcing of those food options. This information is also available through Sodexo catering on campus for individual events.

Multiple Sustainable Landscape signs are across campus that indicate the facilities team provides sustainable landscaping and groundskeeping to campus grounds. There are also multiple native garden signs that educate about why natives are important to the ecosystem. There is also a butterfly garden sign that educates about pollinators.

ISU has a multi-model parking garage located on campus that includes the city bus system. Information is provided online for alternative methods of transportation and all ISU faculty, staff, and students have fee access to the city bus system through their campus IDs.

Green Living Guide

The Office of Sustainability created an informational sheet about how residents can live a sustainable lifestyle while living in a residence hall. These sheets were distributed by residence life and continue to be distributed by the Office of Sustainability during tabling events. The Office of Sustainability currently has a project worker that is putting together a comprehensive Green Guide for campus and a Green Guide for the community.
