A brief description of the methodology used to determine the total number of courses offered and to identify sustainability course offerings, including the definitions used and the process for reviewing and/or validating the course inventory :
The course inventory was utilized for courses offered in the academic year 2017-2018. The list was then filtered to exclude any internship, practicum, independent study, special topic, thesis, or clinical course. Each course description was examined to identify if it was potentially a sustainability course. This yielded a potential list of approximately 150 courses. The courses were separated into lists by academic department. Each of the academic departments chairs for these departments were contacted with the list of courses under their purview, and asked to confirm or deny any of the courses. Once the lists were filtered by the academic department chairs, the courses were then sorted into Sustainability Courses or a Course that Contains Sustainability. Courses that examine a sustainability problem using two or more of the three sustainability domains (environmental, economic, and social) were labeled as Sustainability Courses. Courses that addressed a sustainability problem from only one domain were labeled as Courses that Include Sustainability.

How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Each course was counted as a single course regardless of the number of offerings or sections
