"---" indicates that no data was submitted for this field

Does the institution have or participate in a green events certification/recognition program?:
Yes

Narrative and/or website URL outlining the sustainability criteria or standards by which the institution’s events are assessed:

Due to a shift in operations, all catered events through the campus's Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality unit are zero waste in that all food is served on either reusable or compostable tableware and all food waste is composted. We further educate the campus community about hosting their own zero waste events (https://sustainability.illinoisstate.edu/explore/waste-reduction/) and/or provide assistance to help "green" their events through requesting or borrowing materials (https://sustainability.illinoisstate.edu/funding/).

Has the institution held one or more qualifying green events within the previous three years?:
Yes

Narrative and/or website URL providing an overview of at least one qualifying green event:

The largest ever zero waste event took place in fall 2023 during Homecoming. More information can be found here: https://news.illinoisstate.edu/2024/02/redbird-village-at-homecoming-2023-recipient-of-the-environmental-stewardship-award-for-2023-24/

Faculty/staff appreciation luncheons are held two times per year and are also zero waste events where 90% or more of the waste is either recycled or composted.

The annual Earth Day Breakfast hosted by the Office of Sustainability is also a zero waste event.
