A brief description of the institution’s wellness and/or employee assistance program(s):
Individual counseling generally involves focusing on the concerns you have raised. Individual counseling at Student Counseling Services uses a short-term therapy model. You and your counselor develop strategies to address your goals, and then determine the length of time needed to resolve these concerns.
Counseling sessions last about 50 minutes. Most students complete between two and eight sessions. These meetings are conducted in private, and all records are completely confidential. The goal of counseling is to help you acquire the skills needed to live a more effective life and successfully overcome a difficult challenge.
At times, the requests for counseling outnumber our staff resources. If you come during one of these high demand periods and further counseling is appropriate, you might be placed on a waiting list or referred to another agency.
