A brief description of when and why the building energy consumption baseline was adopted:

The 2005 baseline was utilized in ISU's first STARS submittal and it serves as a good baseline.

A brief description of any building temperature standards employed by the institution:

Average building set-point is 68-72 degrees during occupancy times.

A brief description of any light emitting diode (LED) lighting employed by the institution:

ISU's Milner Library replaced fixtures with LED configurations as part of the lighting upgrades in that facility.

A brief description of any occupancy and/or vacancy sensors employed by the institution:

ISU routinely installs occupancy and PV sensors in facilities as appropriate.

A brief description of any passive solar heating employed by the institution:
---

A brief description of any ground-source heat pumps employed by the institution:
---

A brief description of any cogeneration technologies employed by the institution:
---

A brief description of any building recommissioning or retrofit program employed by the institution:
---

A brief description of any energy metering and management systems employed by the institution:

The majority of campus is metered in sections. As new buildings are brought on-line individual meters are installed.

A brief description of the institution's program to replace energy-consuming appliances, equipment and systems with high efficiency alternatives:

Campus Dining and University Housing specify energy efficient appliances in the dining centers and residences.

A brief description of any energy-efficient landscape design initiatives employed by the institution:

The university white-tops parking lots as they are resurfaced. The white topping mitigates the heat effect, and provides reflective value making our parking lot lighting more effective.

A brief description of any vending machine sensors, lightless machines, or LED-lit machines employed by the institution:

none.

A brief description of other energy conservation and efficiency initiatives employed by the institution:

The Office of Energy Management is a strong proponent of building energy efficiency to reduce consumption. They work in concert with Facilities Management to select the most efficient building envelope systems, mechanical systems, and technology to drive consumption down.
