LEED™ (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System® is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. The University supports the ideals and intentions of this program. The University expects incorporation into the project of any facet of this program that benefits sustainability, the proposed building, the environment, and the University. Along with design and construction efforts, the University expects that designers will provide clear direction to contractors to recycle from the construction site in accordance with the intent and requirements of this program to help reduce landfill consumption. The University expects as a final project deliverable – concise, simple and straightforward documentation of these efforts and achievements.
While the University reserves the decision to seek LEED certification for any building or project, each designer shall endeavor to incorporate LEED ideals and applications as warranted by project type or potential. Illinois State University, as an institution, is committed to acting as a responsible steward of our environment. Therefore the construction and/or renovation of buildings must serve the University for a very long time.
Illinois State University High Performance Building Guidelines are hereby constituted by
