A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome :
Community Food Waste Composting. Illinois State University partnered with a private hauler to create a community wide food-waste composting program. The hauler contracts with area businesses and institutions to haul food waste to the University Farm where it is composted with community yard-waste and livestock manure. In it's first year the hauler reported nearly one million pounds of food waste was diverted from the landfill.
